We have all heard this expression once or twice…but what does it mean? It means that everything that is happening is happening NOW. The past is gone, the future is yet to arrive and the only real thing we have and experience is the NOW.
If we don’t like our NOW, we can look at it square in the face and say…ok, what shall I change? What would I enjoy more? What would be better for my family? Yes we experience life in chunks of now…but in order to create the life that reflects our dreams and preferences, we must turn our attention in that direction. Focusing on the bad of what we have now or have had in the past, only brings more bad. Focusing on the good of what we have had, have today and will have in the future, brings more good. As Abraham Hicks says; “Find the best feeling thought you can in any situation and focus upon that”.
The power of Choice
When you feel as though you have no choice as to where you are living and working and with whom you are consorting, stop and check that thinking. Do you really have no choice or is it just easier to go along? Did you not chose the relationship that you are in? Did you not have some say in the work that you do? Do you not have complete choice in the friends you engage? Of course you do. The moment you stand up and claim responsibility and ownership over your own life and your experience of it, the faster you will uncover your power to change it.
Constant complaining and bickering with no formulated solution is such a painful place for humans to be stuck. Round and round in the mind, addicted to the pain of complaint. Addicted to the sense of helplessness. It is so much easier to blame others. It is so much easier to expect others to fix the problems that we are not willing to work on.
Taking full responsibility and acknowledging that where you are in your life is a culmination of your thoughts and choices along the way…is the first step to a self-actualized life. The power is with you NOW, it is only your thinking that keeps your separate from it.
